Meet our Founder & ChangeMaker
Hi everyone! If you know me, you know my story of surviving Domestic Violence from ages 14 to 17 and the moments when I felt like giving up on life. But I’m still here because I chose to believe that I deserved to LIVE. 💜
My name is Celeste Iroha, and I’m a 30-year-old healthcare professional, entrepreneur, longtime advocate, and survivor of Domestic Violence, Intimate Partner Violence, Domestic Violence involving a firearm, and Gun Violence. I hold a BA in Health Services, a Community Health Worker Certificate, and a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies with a Human Rights focus. I’m also pursuing my second master’s degree to become a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and preparing to enter nursing school on my journey toward becoming an Emergency Room Registered Nurse.
My experiences have inspired me to build Safe Harbor for Women, Inc., an organization dedicated to creating safe spaces, resources, and supportive environments for women and female survivors of Domestic Violence. At 14, my first relationship began with what seemed like love but eventually became abuse, including physical violence, choking, coercion, isolation, and threats involving a firearm. Surviving those experiences transformed my pain into purpose. Now, I’m committed to helping other survivors reclaim their safety, freedom, and lives. I hope you’ll join us, support our mission, donate financially or contribute essential shelter necessities as we work toward opening our shelter next December. From a Survivor, for Survivors. 💜
